Parents’ Campaign Supports Excellence

For Badger parents Robert and Susan Keating, UW–Madison has become a family tradition.

“We are avid fans of Wisconsin,” Susan Keating writes from her Washington, D.C., home. “Our first son started [at the UW] in 2009, and his experience has been so superlative that our second son began his Wisconsin journey this autumn. … The education that our sons receive in Wisconsin will empower them to succeed, wherever their futures take them.”

Keating’s enthusiasm about UW–Madison — considered one of the world’s top universities with an impressive number of highly ranked areas of study — has led to several gifts to the university’s Parents Enrichment Fund-Libraries. “We strongly believe that gifts to the university are an investment in the ongoing quality and breadth of education at UW–Madison, and we are committed to doing our part,” she says.

The UW Foundation organizes an annual parents’ campaign to benefit the university. While past campaigns have focused on the libraries, this year parents also have the opportunity to support the Great People Scholarship Program for need-based aid, the Chancellor’s Annual Fund, or their student’s school, college, or department.

Parents recently received a letter about the parents’ campaign, and students who work at the UW Foundation will be calling soon to discuss this important effort. The student-callers give parents another way to connect with campus and to learn more about current events, activities involving their students, and the importance of gifts of all sizes.
