Parents’ Weekend 2012 Recap

The Wisconsin Alumni Association welcomed 640 families — with a total of about 2,200 participants — to this year’s Parents’ Weekend in September. Campus resources and student groups greeted parents at check-in with tables of free merchandise and information. Participants could then attend informational sessions and speeches at Memorial Union and the newly built Gordon Dining and Events Center on subjects including second-year housing decision and study-abroad tips. A chancellor’s question-and-answer panel was held, and current faculty members gave lectures. The Parent Program hosted an Ice Cream Social to wrap up the day’s activities, featuring a parent-tailored Babcock Ice Cream flavor, “Berry Proud Parent.” Parents could then attend Saturday’s Badger Football game, where the Badgers brought home a 37-26 win against the University of Texas at El Paso.

If you were not able to attend, or missed an information session, videos are available via the Parent Program YouTube account. You can also read a recap and see pictures of the weekend taken by the Wisconsin Alumni Association.
