Managing Textbook Costs
To help students and families manage textbook bills, UW–Madison is providing detailed information to students about books and their costs.
By receiving information on costs via Course Guide, students can shop around online for the best deals or make early decisions on which courses to take. Students can also participate in early-semester textbook swaps sponsored by the Associated Students of Madison.
UW System recently endorsed this approach, adopting new guidelines that encourage professors to identify textbooks early, asking instructors to use the same textbooks for multiple semesters and to develop creative options to lessen costs.
