2009–2010: Fall semester
October 30 Last day to drop fall courses
October 31 Halloween/Badger Bash
November 1 Daylight saving time ends
November 13–15 First-Year Parents’ Weekend
November 20 Last day to withdraw without academic penalty
November 26–29 Thanksgiving recess*
December 15 Last day of classes
December 17 Exams begin

*Policy on Classes during Thanksgiving
The university discourages professors from canceling class on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving in order to fulfill the required amount of credit hours per semester. On some occasions, a professor will offer makeup sessions or alternative assignments to accommodate out-of-state students with immovable travel plans. Once your student finalizes his or her class schedule, we encourage contacting his or her Wednesday professors to determine their individual policies. It is recommended that students attend class on this day.

2009–2010: Spring semester
January 4 Third quarter housing payment due (deadline extended to January 25 if paying with financial aid)
January 9 First financial aid checks mailed out for Spring term
January 15 SHIP (student health insurance plan) spring/summer coverage begins
January 16 Residence Halls open, End of fall-semester eligibility for University Health Services (UHS)
January 16 Residence Hall move-in
January 17 Spring-semester eligibility begins for University Health Services (UHS)
January 18 Last day to cancel enrollment without transcript record
January 19 Instruction begins
January 22 Late enrollment fee applies after Jan. 22
January 27 Last day to drop courses or withdraw without notation on transcript
January 29 Last day for 100% tuition adjustment on dropped classes, last day to add courses
February 5 Tuition due for spring term
February 10 Returning university residence halls contract deadline
February 12 Last day for 50% tuition adjustment on dropped classes, last day to convert a class from credit to audit, last day to apply for pass/fail privilege
February 15 SHIP spring/summer open enrollment deadline
March 1 Fourth quarter housing payment due, admissions summer course equivalency service (March 1–15)
March 19 Last day to drop courses
March 24 Beginning this date, students may withdraw with no financial aid repayment for Spring term
March 27–April 4 Spring recess
March 28 Enrollment begins for summer term
March 29 Last day to drop courses
April 15–17 Varsity Band Spring Concert
April 16 Last day to withdraw without academic penalty
April 17 Spring football game
May 7 Last class day
